Hi there, we use cookies to improve your experience on our website. You can update your settings by clicking the Privacy policy link at the bottom of the page. My issue is that I used to be a prostitute in the UK and have since quit. The problem is a year or so ago, I was denied access to the US on the ground of lying on my ESTA form saying I was a life coach rather than prostitute. My finger print and picture were taken, in addition to other details. Will Japanese immigration have access to all this?
Thanks for reading. No Japan will not have access to this but how would US immigration have reached that conclusion if you did not tell them? The US border security team were suspicious about my employment and I admitted that I had misrepresented myself on their ESTA form after an interrogation as I struggled to answer their questions on what being a life coach entails.
I explained my situation and while they were understanding, I was denied admission. I know that visa forms ask to reveal this information Is there a requirement to list prostitution on a visa application like listing a criminal record, or is it asking for previous employment? Also, I wasn't under the assumption that Brits need to fill out a visa form anyway if they come just for vacation.
Exception would be working holiday visa, which you have not stated. There is nothing wrong with being economical with the truth at immigration but you have to be prepared to answer a few questions about your fibs or else the whole thing collapses like a house of cards and you get denied entry. I would suggest that when you go to Japan you choose a more mundane occupation if asked about your previous employment. Not only nothing wrong..
Back in my younger days when I was still learning, I'd volunteer information, thinking that I was being "helpful" and "co-operative". It never got me into trouble, but it usually only resulted in the immigration officer asking even more questions to follow-up on what I volunteered.
