He pleaded guilty last month to helping to manage a brothel at a unit in Chateau Eliza at Mount Elizabeth and receiving a year-old Thai prostitute at Changi Airport for prostitution. Nine other charges including living on immoral earnings of the prostitutes were considered during his sentencing.
Six Thai passports and a photocopy of a Thai passport were found on them. Investigations showed that seven women from Thailand were working for a vice syndicate operated by a man known only as David.
The women, whose photographs were put on-line, would wait in their rooms for the syndicate to get clients for them to provide sexual services to. Investigations showed that Tan began working for the syndicate on June 25 last year, and had not been paid till his arrest.
On July 1 last year, Tan and Cheng went to the airport to receive and take the year-old Thai woman to the condominium where she was to stay and provide sexual services.
Cheng, who faced 16 charges, was jailed for nine months last year. The case against Francis Tan Thuan Heng, 21, is pending. Under the probation order, Jaryl Tan, who will be enlisted into the army on March 6, has to perform hours of community service and remain indoors from 10pm to 6am when he is out of camp.
