The location seemed great - just a couple blocks from the main train station in Warsaw. But, we were a school tour group and only as we got close to the building did we realize we just booked a bunch of teenagers into a hostel on a street with open prostitution!
If we hadn't had a native guide we wouldn't even have been able to get into the place because there were three layers to entering. At the street you had to know which button to push to get them to let us in - and the buttons were unlabeled! And we don't speak Polish, so randomly pushing buttons wouldn't have been good. Once in the courtyard there were 4 or 5 doors and no way to know which of these doors goes to the hostel.
Once our guide figured this out through lots of button pushing and discussion in Polish, we found ourselves in a stairwell, but we had no way to know which floor we needed to be on, so more trial and error.
The linens smelled mildewy. The next set we got smelled the same. The third set was passable. The staff was very helpful and friendly - sad that the facility was so decrepit and in such a terrible location.
We spent 3 nights in this good located hostel. It's situated only meters from the Palace of Culture and Science and about 1 km from the train station. The hostel is built inside a big apartment in an old block house. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. There are a shared kitchen and 2 bathrooms, which are occupied often.
